Along with the increasing incorporation of multiple functions in devices like TVs and PCs there is also a demand for smaller connectors that are compatible with high-speed transmission.
JAE has now developed the "FM8 Series" shielded-FFC compatible, board-to-FFC high-speed transmission connector that offers even greater space-savings than previous models.
The FM8 Series saves space by achieving a near 20% reduction in height and depth compared to previous products.
In addition, ground terminals with a spring structure are located on both ends of the connector to ensure secure contact with the FFC shield.
This connector is not only compatible with shielded FFCs, but also with non-shielded FFCs, as well as FPCs, so any of these can be selected depending on the EMI requirements.
The tactile click response, temporary retention feature, and structure that prevents misaligned mating all contribute to improved operation for the customer.

 Reduced 18% in height and 19% in depth compared to previous FM5 models
Pattern is not compatible with the FI-R Series.
- Ensures secure contact with the FFC ground through the top and bottom spring structure.
- Incomplete mating prevented by clear click feeling.
- Guides located on the sides of the FFC prevent misalignment by temporarily holding the FFC in place.
- Compatible with shielded FFCs, non-shielded FFCs, and FPCs, so with or without shield can be selected depending on the EMI requirements of the total product.
- Applicable FFC/ FPC thickness: 0.3mm ±0.03mm, ZIF structure bottom-surface connection type.
